Is Famous Meat-Eater Chef Gordon Ramsay Going Vegan?
The chef hinted at a possible new diet on Twitter.
Gordon Ramsay, the famously grumpy British celebrity chef who has openly expressed his hatred of airplane food and pineapple pizza, is well known as a committed carnivore. But just yesterday he shocked the world when he tweeted that he might be trying out a whole new diet.
“Going to give this #vegan thing a try,” he wrote as the caption for a picture of what looks like a vegan pizza. Does this mean that Ramsay is switching to a vegan diet and giving up his precious meat? Sorry to disappoint if you came here looking for some Earth-shattering news, but no, probably not.
The more likely scenario is that Ramsay is promoting his new restaurant, a pizza joint called Street Pizza, which opened in London today. The restaurant will likely serve vegan pizza to those customers who aren’t meat lovers, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that Ramsay is going to start eating vegan himself.
In the past, Ramsay has faced backlash for mocking vegans, once tweeting that PETA stands for “people eating tasty animals.” Given that he’s been open about the fact that he loves eating meat, and clearly doesn’t have much patience for people who don’t, then there’s no reason to believe he’s suddenly changed his entire belief system. At least he’s willing to accommodate people who choose a different diet at his new restaurant.
Even though Ramsay isn’t turning vegan, that doesn’t mean he’s not health conscious: Back in January, Ramsay revealed that he lost 50 pounds in order to get in shape for his wife.

There are some foods we know that Ramsay can’t tolerate, though: When he appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Ramsay nearly convulsed with disgust when Chloe Kim mentioned that her signature dish, were she ever to compete on MasterChef, would be an Oreo McFlurry. Then, when she brought up the fact that she loves Hawaiian pizza, Ramsay actually walked off the stage.
