Amazon Returns Are Now Accepted at All Kohl’s Stores
Starting now, you can return unwanted Amazon purchases to Kohl’s for no extra cost.
As of this month, Amazon returns will now be accepted at Kohl's stores. To start your return, simply visit Amazon's Online Return Center and select "Kohl's Dropoff Location" from the menu of options.
Amazon will then email you a QR code, which can be scanned by an in-store associate at Kohl's. All you have to do is show them the email on your cell phone.
Best part? There's no need to pack up boxes or print out shipping labels—the store will do it all for you! And the timing could not be more perfect, since Prime Day just happened this week. Though there were certainly great deals, we're all guilty of buying things we don't really need, and the thought of boxing everything up and taking it to the post office is enough for us to put off returning our just-bought items for weeks.
It's worth mentioning that not all items bought on Amazon are eligible for Kohl's returns (think: large pieces of furniture or items that you've had for over 30 days). You'll be able to tell if your item isn't eligible if you don't see an option in the dropdown menu to return it to a Kohl's store. If this happens, conventional return methods are often still an option.
Since returning Amazon items to Kohl's is totally free, there's no excuse for you to put off returning unused or unwanted items. Plus, you can find some immediate replacements at Kohl's for whatever you're returning—including clothing, kitchen items, jewelry, or tech gadgets—and you can stack coupons, Yes2You Rewards, and Kohl’s Cash for maximum savings. We'll call that a win-win!
Kohl’s, the department store chain anchoring many of your favorite malls, has been undergoing more than a few changes recently. Last spring they announced that they would begin sharing space with grocery stores such as Aldi, and earlier this year they began partnering with Weight Watchers to add health studios to some locations.
But the most recent change is one that could have the biggest impact for how you shop: Starting this July, you'll be able to take any Amazon purchase you want to return directly a Kohl's instead of mailing it back. The two companies initially forged a partnership in 2017 and rolled out pilots in 100 stores throughout Los Angeles, Chicago, and Milwaukee. Since the test program was so successful, they’re rolling it out across all 1,158 locations.
According to a media release, “Kohl’s will accept eligible Amazon items, without a box or label, and return them for customers for free, providing additional service and convenience to Amazon customers.”
But why would Kohl’s would want to partner with Amazon? Like most other department stores, they want more people coming into their stores to take a look around and (hopefully) picking up a few items while they’re there. Michelle Gass, Kohl’s chief executive officer, said, “This new service is another example of how Kohl’s is delivering innovation to drive traffic to our stores and bring more relevance to our customers.”
We’re curious to see how this one with Amazon turns out, and we’ll definitely be taking advantage of free returns this summer!
